Heidrun Schramm
Heidrun Schramm is a noise collector, sound artist and composer. In her work she combines sound art, music and video art. Mixed forms of performance, acousmatic performance and installation are created. She composes conceptual electroacoustic music for multi-channel loudspeaker systems using recordings of acoustic musical instruments and object sounds as well as field recordings. Everyday life, context, poetry, space are important parameters for her work. The starting point can be a single concrete sound or the memory or imagination of a sound event that can be heard in an everyday context. These „found sounds“ are intensively explored according to their tonal characteristics and possibilities. She holds an MA from the UDK, Berlin; where she studied in the Sound Studies Program with Prof. Sabine Breitsameter and Prof. Dr. Martin Supper.
Heidrun’s work has been performed, exhibited, and screened in festivals, venues and galleries such as: Heroines of Sound Festival Berlin, IMAkusmonium, St. Pölten, Kunstverein Gera, One Minute Film Festival Aarau/Switzerland, Velak Gala Vienna, Blurred Edges Festival Hamburg.

Duo „Railroad Concrète“ – JD Zazie / Heidrun Schramm
Duo started by Heidrun Schramm and JD Zazie in 2017, based on actual train sounds taken from their personal field recording’s archive. Fascinated by these sounds, that accompany their daily life, the duo plays with train noises, inner resonances, sonic landmarks, signals, social sounds and train station’s acoustic qualities. “Railroad Concrète” constantly develops the collected sound material in its compositions and sound installations, where the sound sources range from the concrete to the abstract, in perfect symbiosis.
Additionally, she has been teaching at the UdK Berlin since 2013, and leading artistic workshops in schools since 2011.
From 2002 until 2010, she appeared under the pseudonym “Sonata Rec”. Inspired by the sonata form, her sound project was about live performances and releases of sound collages.

Heidrun Schramm ist Geräuschesammlerin, Klangkünstlerin und Komponistin. Sie studierte Sound Studies an der Universität der Künste Berlin bei Prof. Sabine Breitsameter und Prof. Dr. Martin Supper. In ihrer Arbeit verbindet sie Klangkunst, Musik und Videokunst. Mischformen aus Performance, akusmatischer Aufführung und Installation entstehen. Sie komponiert konzeptuelle elektroakustische Musik für Multikanal-Lautsprechersysteme unter Verwendung von Aufnahmen akustischer Musikinstrumente und Objektgeräuschen sowie Fieldrecordings. Alltag, Kontext, Poesie, Raum sind wichtige Faktoren für ihre Arbeit. Ausgangspunkt kann ein einzelnes konkretes Geräusch bzw. die Erinnerung oder Vorstellung eines Klangereignisses sein, das in einem alltäglichen Zusammenhang zu hören ist. Diese „found sounds“ werden nach ihren klanglichen Eigenschaften und Möglichkeiten intensiv erforscht.
Ihre Arbeiten präsentiert sie auf Festivals, in Konzertreihen und Galerien, u. a. beim Heroines of Sound Festival Berlin, IMAkusmonium, St. Pölten, Kunstverein Gera, Velak Gala Wien, One Minute Film Festival Aarau/Schweiz, Blurred Edges Festival Hamburg. Seit 2013 Lehrauftrag an der UDK Berlin. Seit 2011 künstlerische Workshops an Berliner Schulen.
Von 2002 bis 2010 trat sie projektbezogen unter dem Pseudonym „Sonata Rec“ auf. Inspiriert von der Sonatenform, ging es um Live-Aufführungen und Veröffentlichungen von Soundcollagen.
